She has held progressive leadership roles, including charge nurse, manager, director, and administrative director. As a nurse practitioner with 15 years of clinical expertise, Dr. Huntley is regarded as a clinical expert who bridges the gap between academia and real-world nursing practice. Her PhD in Health Studies has equipped her to develop solutions for public health challenges, which she has applied in underserved communities through innovative health education strategies.

Dr. Huntley’s passion lies in nursing education, a field to which she has contributed since 2009. She currently serves as the Assistant Director of Clinical Learning at Sam Houston State University, where she focuses on designing impactful clinical experiences for nursing students. In this role, she builds strong community relationships with clinical partners and collaborates with grant teams to strengthen the nursing workforce pipeline. Her previous role as Director of Nursing Program Development enabled her to implement hospital-wide education courses, new RN orientation programs, and annual nursing trainings. In addition, she is responsible for managing accreditation and regulatory reporting, ensuring institutional compliance and maintaining the highest standards in nursing education and practice.

During her time as a Clinical Manager II, Dr. Huntley was instrumental in her organization’s journey toward Magnet designation. She served as the Clinical Manager for the Career Ladder initiative, where she worked closely with nurses across the hospital to develop and align advancement criteria with Magnet standards. She also led the review process for new and renewal applications submitted by candidates. Her active participation in Shared Governance has been a hallmark of her leadership throughout her nursing career.

Dr. Huntley has received multiple awards in recognition of her contributions to nursing education. She was honored with the Faculty Innovation Award by the Sam Houston State University School of Nursing for developing sustainable learning approaches, and the Faculty Service Award (Non-Tenure Track) by the College of Health Sciences for her collaborative contributions toward achieving team goals.

Her leadership style integrates both transformational and strengths-based approaches. As a transformational leader, Dr. Huntley fosters engagement by encouraging team members, setting clear expectations, and celebrating achievements. Her approach is rooted in authenticity, humility, collaboration, and a deep respect for values-driven leadership. As a strengths-based leader, she leverages individual talents to delegate effectively and ensure optimal team performance.
